Common questions

How do I know you're any good?
1) Listen to the sound clips on the site. That's how we sound — if you book us the same musicians will be coming to play for you. We can send you a CD if you like.
Have a look at the testimonials page.
3) Read the musician biographies to learn more about the people who'd be playing for you.
Get in touch to discuss any remaining questions.

Can I see you play live?
Call us for details of forthcoming gigs.

Do you bring all your own equipment?
Yes – we bring all the instruments and amplification. We just need a power supply. We can also bring some basic stage lighting if you request it at the time of booking.

Can we use your PA for a speech?
If you're booking a vocal ensemble and the speech falls during the time we'd be there anyway, then yes (for no extra cost). If you're booking an instrumental band or the timing necessitates our being there for a longer period of time then we can do this for a small extra charge (probably much less that the cost of hiring a PA exclusively for this purpose).

How long do you play?
Typically three sets of 45 minutes or two of one hour, over a 2.5 – 3 hour interval (with breaks). Usually four – or very occasionally five – sets is the maximum. We can be pretty accomodating about the actual timings, as long as the total playing time is agreed beforehand.

Will you play outside?
As long as we’re adequately protected from the elements – including sunshine which can damage the instruments. A small gazebo is usually sufficient.

How much does it cost?
Get in touch for a quote. If you're on a tight budget tell us what you can spend and we'll tell you what's possible. There are often ways of keeping costs down, and if we can't help you we may be able to direct you to someone who can.

How far will you travel?
Potentially anywhere. We recently played at an event in Brussels, and bands members have performed around the world.

What's the booking procedure?
Once we've agreed all the details we send you two copies of a contract setting everything out. We ask you to sign and return one copy along with a deposit for 50% of the fee. The other 50% is payable on the day of the engagement.
